Closing Reception for the Art in Freedom Park 2005 exhibition
>> Saturday, September 17th

The inaugural Art in Freedom Park exhibition was a tremendous success, achieving public appreciation for the free event and accolades for its contribution to Atlanta public art.

The Art in Freedom Park Task Force and Host Susan Bridges celebrated the conclusion of the 2005 exhibition and began the campaign for funding the 2006 exhibition with a cocktail reception at The Carter Center.

Raffle prizes were donated by the following stores located in Little 5 Points:
Cherry Bomb, The Vortex Bar and Grill, Soul Kiss and Henna Art by Dana Bahor.

The fundraising event was generously sponsored by Alliance Data Systems, Athletic Club Northeast, Concourse Athletic Club, Greenberg Traurig, PA (Atlanta, Orlando), Kilpatrick Stockton, Peachtree Center Athletic Club and Some Call It Art.

Closing Day of the Art in Freedom Park 2005 exhibition
>> Sunday, September 18th

The 2005 exhibition concluded with an afternoon of performances in Freedom Park by the Atlanta Poets Group, members of Vientos del Pueblo, Mr Boom, RoboCromp, Z-Axis and Hungry Flower.

Five members of the Atlanta Poets Group kicked off the afternoon.

Members of Vientos del Pueblo
performed music from the Andes.

Mr Boom
performed his entertaining blend
of poetry and monologues.

RoboCromp
chamber-fusion duo Jeff Crompton (sax and clarinet)
and Rob Rushin (guitars) whispered, roared, strutted
and slid their way through strange originals and prismatic
interpretations of lesser-known masterpieces by the likes of
Steve Lacy, Monk, Cecil Taylor, Ornette, Benny Goodman,
Albert Ayler and Robert Fripp.
